Publish Your Work in Folklore Magazine
Folklore Magazine accepts original submissions that are clearly about some aspect of Saskatchewan stories or history. Folklore takes a broad view of what is considered related to Saskatchewan and what is considered history. Many of our submissions describe events or experiences that happened in the past, but (at the discretion of the Editor) we also accept contemporary stories.
Folklore pays its authors $1.50 per column inch for published submissions, plus a complimentary copy.
All submissions sent to Folklore Magazine are reviewed by our Editor, who is a student from the University of Saskatchewan’s Department of History.
Folklore Magazine submissions are often “people stories” – stories of events, daily life, family, humour, and lived experiences, often personal, that share what it is like to live in Saskatchewan. We also enjoy accepting researched history articles, poetry or songs, book reviews, feature photographs, oral histories, and any other creative work that can be represented in magazine format.
For more specific examples of works that Folklore Magazine publishes, please look through our blog or older issues in our archive.
